Director of Utilities
The City of Kearney is seeking an organized individual with an exceptional ability to communicate to oversee a large department which includes water distribution, water production, sewer collection and treatment, solid waste collection and disposal, and recycling collection and processing. Work requires significant interpretative judgment in variation from established procedures and standards, planning, implementing, and direct a comprehensive operation and maintenance program of the Utilities Department. A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field required, plus eight years of progressively responsible engineering and public works experience, including experience with water and wastewater systems, and including four years in a supervisory or administrative capacity, a master’s degree may be substituted for some work experience; preferred registration as a Professional Engineer in Nebraska. Valid Nebraska driver’s license required.
